This probably only needs explanation to non-Finns.
Stadi: “Town”
Kehä III: The road which basically goes around the “outskirts” of the Helsinki-region (actually it’s mostly in Vantaa and Espoo, but yeah) – you could say it’s a dividing line.
Pohjoinen: Northern Finland (basically anywhere outside of Kehä III)
Turku: A town in south-western Finland (but basically “the only town in Western Finland”) - Helsinki people forget about Pori, Vaasa, Seinäjoki and Kokkola.
Tamperse: A play on words. Helsinki and Tampere have this town rivalry, also found in places like Hamilton-Auckland, Sydney-Melbourne, Nice-Paris, Barcelona-Madrid, London-anywhere else in England etc. “Perse” means “Ass” so… Tamperse.
Jyväskylä, Kuopio, Oulu and Rovaniemi are just in the wrong places. Very wrong places.
<rant>I very much agree. I just got 2 laptops: 1 with Vista, 1 with XP (identical machines). I replaced the XP one with Ubuntu Gutsy and it’s so much faster than the Vista machine… and less annoying to use! And it is prettier. Compiz vs Aero is just not even a competition.
But I hate using the Vista machine (Xiaoxia, my colleague can testify to this) – it won’t even let me rename a file without being prompted several times (though this may also be a consequence of the fingerprint scanning software always asking for my bloody credentials!)
I’m not exactly a tech n00b but Vista pisses me off and just gets in my way. Give me something – anything – that is transparent and doesn’t get in the way of me just doing stuff. Give me Mac OS. Linux. BSD. BeOS. eComStation, Windows 2000. XP (though these days there are a few things that irk me about using Windows XP and some of the third-party tools that are necessary to keep it from dying…Â and I don’t like being told I should restart these whenever I install or update something)… just… not Vista.
As far as I am concerned, using Vista is like being pecked to death by a duck.
