Slow news month

Well, I haven’t heard much from the lady downstairs. Which is probably good.

In other news, I am currently planning to sell up and leave Finland. Despite the amount of letters and phone calls and personal visits to the courts and immigration and so forth that Anna and I have been  making, the wheels of bureaucracy are just not turning, and I have pretty much run out of patience and the desire to wait.

I still have the right to reside and continue my business and so forth, I’m not being *forced* to leave (not like last time in 2006 when they were sending paperwork to Jason in Vantaa), however, I can not, for example, open another bank account or really do anything “official”. Which is quite problematic.

Anyway *this time* I applied early for the new permit. Should have taken 2-4 weeks, right? Not so. I finally heard in August that they’d been sending requests for information to me. Of course, they never reached me, as they were going to some address somewhere around Huopalahti – the closest I’ve ever livedto that was… either Pitäjänmäki (early 2008) or Ruskeasuo (2006-March 2007), but it was neither of those addresses… anyway, it is all detailed at this post.

One of these days I will put up the audio clips of the immigration police trying to do illegal things and so forth. Probably after I leave the country.

So, will I come back? All I can say is: big fat MAYBE. But only if this kind of shit stops happening.

For now, however, I am looking at Dubai, Bombay/Mumbai or the Ukraine as countries to which I could go. Depending on which I end up going to, I *may* just end up taking trains to get there, because I think it would be more fun.

Anyway, that pretty much sums up whats going on at the moment. I think that perhaps it is just not time for me to be settling down. Maybe I need to go to a booming economy (eg NOT Europe or North America), make some moolah and take care of my “itchy feet”. Then we’ll see what happens.

For now, though, I’m off to get my daily dose of Conan O’Brien.

Ciao

Announcing Digubo. Unofficially.

What is Digubo? Well, you know how I’m all in to Tourism and whatnot now? Well… some of you may also know that I am… technologically inclined.

When I worked in Nice, Ulf (the proprietor) had a 45 minute blah about what to see and do in the area for all the tourists. We often discussed that he should have better things to do with his time.

With my recent foray in to the hospitality industry, and my interest in visiting the places that no-one else visits (like Cimiez – Daniel, Valentina, Cristal and I all regularly went to get coffee at this hidden gem – but best of all, no tourists!)

Which gave me an idea. I was thinking of putting it under the header of one of my other projects, but it didn’t really fit. So now, Seven Poles Ltd is proud to introduce Digubo – the digital guide book (for mobile devices).

www.digubo.com is being built, and will soon have a demo.

I want it to run on Symbian (maybe flash-based), and probably iPhone/iPod Touch. Maps, Audio, Video, Text – and far less expensive than the 25€ audio-tours of Helsinki (the city where, naturally, we would start for content), and I would also like to set up a hardware platform (rentals) for those not carrying around multimedia devices.
